This article outlines how to create a service.
Adding a new service to your Sitter Pro admin dashboard is a straightforward process. Whether you're introducing a new type of caregiving service or expanding your existing offerings, this guide will walk you through the steps to set up your new service.
To begin the process of adding a new service, follow these steps:
- Access Your Settings: Start by navigating to the "Settings" page. You can do this by clicking on the cog icon in the top right corner of your admin dashboard.
- Select Services: In the Settings section, you'll find an option labeled "Services." Click on this to create a new service.
- Create a New Service: Locate the red "+" icon in the top row. Click this icon to create a new service.
Defining Service Details
When setting up a new service, you will be asked to define three crucial pieces of information. Here's a detailed breakdown of each:
- Service Type: The service type indicates whether the job is intended for a single client or a business/group. There are two primary service types to choose from:
- Booking: This service type is suitable for traditional temporary care jobs, such as babysitting, companion care, or pet sitting. Clients can book these jobs directly through the app or the admin system.
- Corporate: Corporate services are used for backup care, events, or other corporate jobs, such as daycare center services. These jobs are typically invoiced and may require additional information, like a case number or billing party. It's important to note that corporate jobs are not available for clients to book in the app.
- Service Category: The service category helps indicate the type of care your new service offers. The Sitter Pro platform supports five different categories of services:
- Child Care
- Companion Care
- Pet Care
- Home Care
- Tutoring
- Service: Name your service. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Babysitting
- Newborn Care Specialist
- Dog Walking
- Companion Care Visit
- House Cleaning
Filling Out Remaining Service Details
When adding a new service, you should also provide additional service details, which include:
- Service Description: A brief description of the service.
- Bookable Online: Indicate whether the service is bookable online. If it's not bookable online, this might apply to events or services with discounted rates, meaning you (the admin) can create them, but clients cannot book them directly in the app or the web portal.
- Send Client Notifications: Decide whether you want to send notifications to a client for this service.
- Service Areas: Select the applicable service areas from a drop-down menu.
- Payment Methods: Choose how service fees will be paid - either by credit card or invoice. If you select "Invoice," you won't process payments through the system, and you'll need to invoice clients and handle payments externally.
- Administrative Fee on Service Fees: Specify if there's an administrative fee on service fees.
- How are Caregiver Wages Paid? Choose how caregiver wages are paid. The options include:
- Cash/Cash: The client will pay the caregiver their wages directly with cash/check/Venmo/etc. The app will still calculate the amount due for the caregiver.
- Credit Card/Auto-Deposit: The client’s credit card is automatically charged at the end of the job, and the caregiver fees are deposited into their bank account.
- Credit Card/Payroll: The client’s credit card is automatically charged at the end of the job, and the caregiver fees are sent to the business to be processed for payroll later (payroll then needs to be manually processed and given to the caregiver).
- Invoice/Payroll: The client is invoiced for the caregiver’s wage, and then the business will process their wages by payroll.
- Display Caregiver Hourly Rate: If the caregiver's wages are paid in cash or invoice/payroll, indicate whether clients are allowed to list an hourly rate in the booking process.
- IMPORTANT to note: the hourly rate put in the field will not be calculated in the fees, it is only built as informational and will show as a field on the job.
- Administrative Fee on Caregiver Wages: Specify if there's an administrative fee on caregiver wages.
- Caregiver Request Delay in Minutes: Select how many minutes the system should wait before sending batches of caregiver requests. The minimum is 5 minutes.
- Number of Caregiver Requests per batch: Select how many caregivers should receive a request with each batch of notifications. The maximum is 50 requests per batch.
Configuring Policies
When configuring policies for your service, you have two options:
- You can use the default settings that you defined in your settings.
- You may choose to make adjustments tailored to this specific service offering.
Setting Rates
To establish rates for your new service, follow these steps:
- Select a Service Area: From the dropdown menu, choose the appropriate service area.
- Set the Base Rates: Define the base rates for your service.
- Add Additional Fees: If applicable, include any extra fees associated with the service.
- Repeat for Each Applicable Service Area: If your service spans multiple service areas, repeat these steps for each one.
Assigning Caregivers and Special Considerations
Assigning caregivers and adding special considerations to your new service is essential for us to curate the best matches for your service. Here's how to do it:
- Assign Caregivers to the Service: Select caregivers who will provide this service.
- Add Special Considerations: If you have specific considerations for this service, navigate to Settings > Special Considerations > edit the relevant consideration > click the Services tab > select the applicable services.
- Repeat for All Applicable Special Considerations: Ensure you configure special considerations for all relevant aspects of your new service.
- Handling Fees for Special Considerations: If any special considerations have fees attached, return to Services > 'edit' the new service and choose the 'Rates' tab. Select the service area and add the appropriate fees to the special considerations.
- Save Your Changes: Don't forget to click the "Save" button to ensure your updates are applied.
